Music Ministry

As in every arena of the ministry of New Hope Seventh-day Adventist Church, the Music Ministry Department exists to glorify the Name of the Lord.

The Music Ministry Department is made up of anointed singers, choirs, praise teams, choristers, and skilled musicians presenting a repertoire filled with high anthems, hymns, spirituals, gospel music, praise & worship songs, and contemporary music. Our mode of worship today is our attempt to glorify our Lord and Savior, responding to the leading of the Holy Spirit to fulfill God’s will for our congregation at this time.

“The Music Department is not here to entertain. There’s nothing in the Bible about people standing in front of others and entertaining them. Anytime someone stands before the congregation singing and crying out the Name of the Lord, they are ministering. It is the responsibility of the Music Ministry department to draw you into praising God because He’s the center of attention.”

The Executive Music Committee believes that the ministry of music within a church must be based on lifting up Jesus.  God must be our focus. That is our number one goal and priority. II Chronicles 5 tells the story of the dedication of the temple and it says that all the Levites who were musicians played their cymbals, harps, and lyres, joined by 120 priests sounding their trumpets.

It says that the trumpeters and singers joined in unison, as with one voice, to give praise and thanks to the Lord. Accompanied by trumpets, cymbals, and other instruments, they raised their voices in praise to the Lord and sang, “He is good; His love endures forever.” And the Bible says, “Then the temple of the Lord was filled with a cloud… for the glory of the Lord had filled the temple.”

Whether it’s the Adult or Youth Praise Team or Choristers, together we are “One Voice” declaring the praises of our God.

So, let us in unison, “as with one voice” be a body of worshipers that magnify, exalt and glorify the Name of Jesus!

Music is more than a song…
It is a way in which we communicate with God.

A church is more than a place we visit on Sabbath…
It is the dwelling place of God.

We are more than singers and musicians…
We are worship leaders who minister in response to a calling.

Due to the untimely passing of Previous Minister of Music, Donald C. Birch Sr., Brother Garfield Morrison was appointed to this post.
